Oh my stars, where has the time gone? I cannot believe we are already a month into the kids summer vacation! They worked so hard this year in school, so it has been fun to see them relax and enjoy themselves. We have already been to an outdoor water park, went berry picking and have been swimming almost every day! When it comes time for dinner, we usually grill out and enjoy our meal out on the deck. There is nothing like munching down on a grilled hot dog while you listen to the crickets. After we eat, the kids love to chase fireflies and try to catch a few. After they have worn themselves out, they are ready for a nice cold drink. There is nothing like their favorite Arctic Blast Frozen Lemonade Recipe. I bet you even have all the ingredients in your kitchen!
What is fun about this recipe is the kids get a huge kick from helping me make it. The basic recipe is just lemonade with a splash of white soda and some fun food coloring. The actual recipe calls for a neon blue food coloring, but Caitlin loves it when we substitute purple and Henry likes the neon green. He says it looks like a radioactive slushie!
If the kids are going to help, and I hope they do, be sure to tell them to go easy on the pour! As you can see, Caitlin was a bit heavy handed, so we just laughed, yelled Cannonball and cleaned it up!
I will be honest, we have made the Arctic Blast Frozen Lemonade Recipe both with and without the lemon lime soda. When you mix it with the lemonade and the ice, you don’t get the fizzy from the soda that you would if it weren’t the slushie consistency. This recipe also works well with other fruit juices like fruit punch, grape juice (white grape is super delicious) or even orange juice. Bottom line is this is a super refreshing drink that will cool the kids down quickly. And to be honest, I love it as well. It is tart and sweet and icy cold. Yummy!!
