Benjamin Moore Aura Paint
Recently I was given an offer from BzzAgent to get a free gallon of Benjamin Moore Aura paint in exchange for a review. This was actually just the kick I needed to repaint our family room, dining room, kitchen area, which I have wanted to repaint ever since we painted 8 years ago! Neither my husband nor I have been happy with our “pink” walls for years!
About a year after we moved into our home I selected paint and my husband proceeded to paint while I was at work. My husband called me at work to tell me that Megan, who was only one year old at the time, looked at the walls and said “pink”. The color was supposed to be more of a mauve color, but obviously I missed the mark completely!
Painting takes so much time, especially when you are working and have kids that we just had not made the time to paint again. Plus then we put up a few different Elfa systems from The Container Store, which made painting even more of chore since they would all have to come down. However, this incredible offer became available and was something I could not pass up…it was time.
This time we were very careful with our color choice. There are neighbors who have their walls painted with Benjamin Moore paint and we really like the colors they chose so I asked them their colors and went from there. We did end up using one of their colors, Puritan Gray. The other color that I am so happy with is Deep Creek.
I went on the Benjamin Moore website to search for the Puritan Gray color. It actually had a few other colors that would be a good match. This is where I found the Deep Creek color. Their site has a lot of great information for color and design ideas if you need some inspiration. This is also where I got the idea to put the Puritan Gray above the kitchen cabinets and then continued that path on the wall that extended out from that room.
We wanted to add some warmth to this area of the house, but with it being such a small space we were worried about the dark color making it look even smaller. At the Benjamin Moore store was a color specialist so we did consult with her on our color choices and had brought pictures of the rooms we were painting. She was very helpful and she felt the colors would work very well in our house, especially since our furniture is light in color.
We loved using the Benjamin Moore Aura paint since it went on so incredibly smooth. It has a built-in primer so it covered our “pink” walls with just one coat. We got our paint in eggshell since we do have small kids we did not want to risk anything getting on the paint and not being able to wash it off. This paint also has “color lock” in it which is wonderful too since then it will not rub off if the need arises to wash off an area. I know I have used other paints and have gotten the marks off the wall but then the rag also has the paint color on it! Also, this paint does not have any VOC’s, it has a Green Promise. You can really tell that by the low – no odor that was emitted.
We are hosting Thanksgiving this year, as we do every year so I am so excited that everyone will get to see our “new” rooms. We are so pleased with our new colors and loved using Benjamin Moore! All the kids are thrilled with the new colors as well. Megan said it feels like we are in a new home!
