I am so excited that Halloween is just days away! The kids and I have been decorating the house, choosing costumes and making all sorts of fun snacks. Because we have Halloween parties at school and at home, I try to make treats that will be a big crowd pleaser. Because Halloween is such a visual holiday, I love to find treats that have a really big visual wow factor. One of my favorites are Halloween Candy Corn Jello Shots. These colorful layered shots are a huge hit with the kids as well as the adults.
These Halloween Candy Corn Jello Shots are way easier to make than I first thought. When I first saw this recipe, I worried they were going to be a tricky to make. I was pleasantly surprised at how easy they were to put together. You just need a little patience and a steady hand and you will have a fun Halloween treat that will become a family favorite.
I do have two areas of caution for you when you attempt this recipe. First, be sure to stir the Jello for the full 2 minutes the recipe calls for. If you don’t, they end up having a grainy texture that is not pleasing to the pallet. Second, be sure to watch the milk very carefully. It burns easily, so stir it until it boils. Don’t overcook it or you will need to start over again as it will give that layer a burnt taste.
Once the Halloween Candy Corn Jello Shots have been in the fridge for at least 20-30 minutes, you are ready to serve them. Once they set, they will hold up great. Just be sure to keep them away from any direct heat or they do tend to melt. One trick we found was to take a toothpick and slide it around the inside of the short glass. This helps the Halloween Candy Corn Jello Shots slide right out!
