October is Energy Awareness Month. What can you do to conserve energy at home this winter? I am constantly telling the kids to shut lights off as they leave rooms. I also try to keep the heat down as low as possible during the winter months. Luckily it was not too hot of a summer here. Otherwise receiving the electricity bill during those heat waves can be rather scary. But more than just that, purchasing new to ENERGY STAR appliances can save a lot of money all year long.
If you are not exactly familiar with what ENERGY STAR does, here is some additional information for you. It is a U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) voluntary program that helps businesses and individuals save money and protect our climate through superior energy efficiency. You can learn more about them at EnergyStar.gov.
Conserve Energy At Home
Best Buy has more than 2,300 unique ENERGY STAR certified products both in-store and online. There are more energy efficient products available now than ever before. There, of course, are appliances such as refrigerators, dishwashers, washers, and dryers, but also televisions, computers, printers, and more. Did you know the average household spends an average $2,200 annually on their energy bill?
Thanks to switching some of our appliances out to ENERGY STAR products, we have been able to conserve energy at home and reduce our energy bill significantly. Best Buy has made it so easy for you to find out how much you can save with ENERGY STAR appliances with their downloadable worksheet.
Something I was not aware of is that local utility companies provide additional rebates that can save you up to $300. You can find what rebates are offered in your area by going to Best Buy online and checking out the ENERGY STAR rebates.
