This is one of my favorite times of the year – the annual introduction of Stampin’ Ups newest sets. For the June Blog Hop, we are crafting handmade cards using stamp sets introduced in Stampin’ Ups 2016-17 Annual Catalog.
Crafting Handmade Cards
As of today, June 1st, 2016 you can now purchase newly released stamp sets, accessories, and kits from Stampin’ Up! There are some adorable new sets of stamps that I’m so excited to use. For Stampin’ Up Demonstrators, we could pre-order some of the new products but we had a limited selection.
One of the stamp sets I bought is called Painter’s Palette. I also bought the 2016-18 In-Color stamps, with the coordinating Cardstock, and Stampin’ Write Markers. I then used the brand new coordinating Playful Palette Designer Series Paper Stock and Washi Tape.
This year, Stampin’ Up! is offering several Framelits that are specifically for Layering. For the Painter’s Palette easel, I used the Layering Squares Framelits to cut out the canvas of the easel. I also used those same Framelits to cut out the square, in the new 2016-18 In-Color Emerald Envy.
Behind the sentiment “Your idea to have a birthday was simply a stroke of genius”, I used Emerald Envy and Peekaboo Peach for the strokes of color. The sentiment was stamped using the Black Archival Stampin’ Pad.
I just love how this card turned out, and think it would be a great masculine card!
For this card, I again used the Painter’s Palette Stamp Set, but with the Basic Black cardstock and the new In-Color Sweet Sugarplum Cardstock. The bow was made using the new 3/8″ Ruched Ribbon in the matching Sweet Sugarplum color. For the brush strokes, I used the Sweet Sugarplum Stampin Pad and Black Archival Ink.
Lastly, I have to show you this other stamp set I purchased called Swirly Bird. I bought a bundle set that included the Swirly Scribbles Thinlits. I love how you can create a water effect with the Thinlits. I used the 2016-18 In-Color Dapper Denim Cardstock for the card base, along with Peekaboo Peach above the water effect. For the sun, I again used the Swirly Scribbles Thinlits for the sun. Crushed Curry was used for the yellow portion and and Sweet Sugar Plum for the swirly on the sun.
The boat was stamped in Emerald Envy and Dapper Denim, with the flag stamped in Sweet Sugar Plum. For the sentiment, I used a set that was introduced in the 2016 Occasions book during Sale-A-Bration called Greatest Greetings. This is one of the sets that was carried over to the new Annual Catalog.
One of my most missed retired items are the Envelope Liner Framelits. I love coordinating all of my cards with a matching envelope. I totally CASED an idea I saw Mary Fish of Stampin’ Pretty use for a couple of her cards. She creates coordinating envelopes as well. She creates the most amazing cards and video tutorials!
For the cards on top and the bottom, I used a piece of DSP from the Playful Palette Stack. I then glued it on the outside of the flap and cut around the flap. For the middle card, I used a paint splatter stamp from the Painter’s Palette stamp set for the inside of the envelop flap. I like how the envelopes turned out!
Now that the Annual Catalog is available for everyone, I can’t wait to get my hands on some more of the new stamp sets and accessories!
I’d like to offer to send a brand new Annual Catalog to anyone who orders $25 or more in Stampin’ Up products from my Stampin’ Up Store.
