I must confess, I am a huge coffee addict. I have my coffee maker set up on a timer to be brewed each morning before I wake-up. The first thing I do is go straight to the kitchen for a nice hot cup of coffee. On the other end of that spectrum, I also have a cup of coffee each night after the kids go to bed for a special treat and to unwind. For a coffee addict such as myself, this is a great time of the year for coffee with all the holiday blends of flavors. This is also my favorite time of the year to visit Starbucks for their special holiday coffees, such as Pumpkin Latte, Peppermint Mocha, and Pumpkin Spice Latte.
The other day I had to run to Sam’s Club to grab a few things. There is a Sam’s Club literally right up the street from us, which is super convenient. One of the many things I love buying in bulk from there is coffee. It is such a huge savings, especially since between my husband and I, we go through a lot of coffee. I was so excited to see that Sam’s Club was carrying the Starbucks Limited Edition Holiday Blend bagged coffee and for only $18.98 for a 28 oz. bag…now that is a savings! Typically at other stores it is around $10 for just a 12-oz. bag.
While I was at Sam’s Club there was a woman handing out samples of cinnamon rolls that were too good to pass up. I do not know about you, but when they are passing out samples, I have such a hard time not purchasing whatever is being sampled!
I was very excited to come home and share my “find” with my husband, plus I could not wait to brew I nice hot pot of my Starbucks Holiday Blend coffee and have a couple of cinnamon rolls with it. Once the coffee was brewed, the first thing we did was have a sip of the coffee. It is a combination of Asia/Pacific,Latin American and, Sumatran beans. We both enjoyed how rich the coffee tasted without being overwhelming and the hint of spice. My husband, preferring his coffee to not be too bold, really enjoyed this coffee as well.
The combination of this coffee with the cinnamon rolls turned out to be one of the most delicious pairings I have had in a long time. I could not believe how much the cinnamon rolls brought out the flavors of ginger, pumpkin, cinnamon, nutmeg, orange, and cloves in the coffee. As you can see from the look on my husbands face below, he agreed completely with the combination of the Starbucks Holiday Blend with the cinnamon rolls.
With Thanksgiving coming up in the next week, I think this will be a great after dinner treat for the adults. Although I could definitely get addicted to this being a daily morning routine or my “after the kids go to bed” special treat for me! I think it is a good thing I have started up my exercise routine again.
Since I do want to maintain the freshness of this coffee, I do pour it into an airtight container that has a filtered vent on the top of it. This container blocks out moisture, light and air to seal in flavor and the filter vents away trapped CO2 gas that is created during the roasting process. This whole process maintains coffee freshness week after week!
