One of the biggest challenges when I worked was not always getting recognized for my contributions to the company. Not that I would expect a big production all the time, but a pat on the back every once in while and told “you’re doing a good job” helps in so many ways. It builds self-confidence, pride, encourages you to do more, and increase overall morale.
I think it’s great when companies celebrate their employees. My husband works that has a company meeting every other month. At the meeting they not only celebrate employee achievements, but also their anniversaries by handing out employee awards. In fact, for the holidays they are are given a selection of items to choose from and are asked to pick one. Last year it was a camera or a winter coat!
Of course employee’s are not the only people who achieve great things. My children have achieved amazing things in their short little lives so far. I love making them feel special with their accomplishments. My children do not need an award to know how proud we are of them, with somethings just the words are enough. Seeing their proud little faces says how much they appreciate being noticed!
I know recently I said something to my husband about being taken for granted. I was having a moment… But moms staying home with their kids and working from home with their kids is a tough job! Kids have bad days and some days are really, really tough. I don’t thing husbands who work a lot always get that, or if the do, just don’t always take the time to recognize what we do.
On the other hand, it is important to say thank you to our husbands every now and then for their accomplishments and how much they pour into their jobs so we can be home with our children. I know my husband is always worried about doing enough to support his family, it is a heavy load to carry.
