It seems at least once or twice a year we get the letters sent home from school telling us that someone in the school had head lice and symptoms our children will exhibit if they have head lice. My daughter always gets a little freaked out about the thought of getting lice. Thankfully she, nor has anyone else in our family has ever had head lice. I hope we never do either.
Lice Prevention Products
Lice Shield is a line of lice preventative products designed to repel lice. The products consist of a Shampoo & Conditioner in 1 and a Leave In Spray – both are gentle enough for daily use. Both of these products are specially formulated with a proprietary blend of natural oil extracts
that repel lice. They contain natural essential oils, such as: Lemongrass, Rosemary, and Citronella.
The best time to use Lice Shield is when you believe your children or family has been exposed to lice. This might be when your child comes home from school with a note warning of an infestation, or when a family member has caught lice that you have been able to treat successfully. Since Lice Shield helps to repel head lice, but does not treat an infestation, the time to use the product is before you catch lice.
The Lice Shield Shampoo & Condition In 1 pours out almost as a gel but then works into the hair as a nice rich lather. The smell has a slight Citronella scent, but I think the scent is more lemongrass and rosemary. I love that this is a tangle-free formula since I have two girls with long hair. For Ethan it doesn’t matter so much, although I like the conditioner aspect of this product since it does make his hair softer.
The Lice Shield Leave In Spray definitely has a Citronella scent to it, but not so unpleasant. I think my kids and I can deal with a little Citronella scent as opposed to getting lice. This product conditions and detangles as well. So between this and the shampoo/conditioner – knots do not stand a chance of winning.
To be most effective, it is recommended that these two products be used together. Using these two products together as directed has been found to reduce the chance of lice infestation by over 80%. That is a great percentage, especially when compared to not using anything, which is 0% effective.
Lice Shield would love to rid America of Lice altogether. To do so they would like to encourage parents to use the Lice Shield preventative, or you can join in on this movement by registering their concern for lice in their area on their Lice Watch app on their Facebook page. Also, to help in this movement Lice Shield is offering 5 fans of A Mom Having Fun a set of the Shampoo/Conditioner and the Leave In spray.
