As some of may know I have been very determined to revamp the interior of our house. Our interior has not had any type of updating since we first moved into our home 10 years ago. It was just much to take on with the kids being so young, and frankly it was the last think on my mind. However, now I am more than ready take on the task of giving our living space a major facelift.
We recently painted our family room, dining area, and kitchen – you can see our painting job here. Now that the painting is done, I wanted to add something to the walls. I have a wall that faces our dining room table that my husband and I have gone back and forth as to what to do with it. At one point we were going to do some nice family photos there, but we have not gotten our pictures taken in quite some time. The other idea that we came up with was to paint this wall with magnetic paint so we can hang the children’s artwork there.
Wall Quote Decals
As much as I like the magnetic paint idea, I think it would look too unkept. I could see the kids are work being all over that wall like a hodgepodge. Recently I have seen a few of our neighbor’s houses decorated with wall quote decals. That is something I decided would look great on this wall of ours. So this is why I was super excited to have an opportunity to work with Vinyl Disorder.
My one challenge was choosing exactly what I wanted on this wall. I had to first decide if I wanted a wall mural or a wall quote. I decided a quote would look very nice on this wall. There are so many quotes it was hard to decide which one I liked best. I finally decided Sit Long… Talk Much… Laugh Often… I thought this would be very fitting for the wall that faced the dinning room table, and has the family room right around the corner.
It was super easy to put on the wall, since it is basically sticky letters in between a backing and a front cover. The first thing you do is tape the lettering on the wall, positioning in where you want it to go on the wall. Next, with it taped to the wall, you then pull the backing off. You then want to make sure it is all flattened out on the wall, and then you want to use a little scraper to scrape over the front cover so the letters will become unstuck from the front cover and stick to the wall instead. Once you have thoroughly scraped, you then want carefully and slowly peel off the front cover. If, while taking off the front cover, there are still any letters stuck to the front cover you simply scrape that area some more.
My one big concern with this whole process was that I had ordered the lettering before choosing and painting our walls. When we were painting our wall I realized the black lettering may be a problem. I was very relieved to see that it turned out so well, and I really like the black lettering on this paint.
Vinyl Disorder produces top quality wall decals using high quality vinyl that has a 6+ years life expectancy for outdoor life. None of the decals at Vinyl Disorder are made until they are actually ordered. This ensures quality and longevity of the vinyl.
