Netflix new Original Series, Stranger Things, is a Sci-Fi / thrill-seeker fan’s dream come true. This show is INTENSE and not for the faint hearted! It’s one of those shows that gets your adrenaline pumping with its spookiness, and makes you jump; but you cannot stop watching it. (Sidenote on the jumping – make sure you are not holding onto anything that can spill.) I’m a member of the Netflix #StreamTeam, all opinions are my own.
Not For The Faint Hearted – Stranger Things on Netflix
I have now seen episodes 1 – 4, and cannot wait to watch the rest of Season 1. The show begins with a scene that will instantly get your heart racing, and then cuts to a group of 4 boys, Dustin, Lucas, Mike, and Will. They are in their 10th hour of playing Dungeons & Dragons at Mike’s house. At that point, they are forced to stop playing and they each head home. On the way home, one of the boys disappears. This, my friends, is all within the first 15 minutes of the first episode.
As the series progresses, it gets even more dark and twisted. Let’s just say that if you were to combine the talents of both Stephen Spielberg and Stephen King – this is what it would look like. The group of kids are portrayed perfectly as the geeky group who want nothing more than to find their missing friend. In the process, they find Eleven, a mysterious girl with strange powers and knows where to find their friend.
Stranger Things, stars Winona Ryder, (who portrays Joyce Byers superbly), Matthew Modine (Dr. Brenner), David Harbour (Chief Hopper), Charlie Heaton (Jonathan Byers), Natalia Dyer (Nancy Wheeler), Millie Brown (Eleven), Finn Wolfhard (Mike Wheeler), Caleb McLaughlin (Lucas Sinclair), and Gaten Matarazzo (Dustin Henderson), and Cara Buono (Karen Wheeler). It set in Indiana in 1983, and has all the 80’s nostalgia with its cultural references, soundtrack, and acting.
