I realize Christmas is still several months away. However, I know from past experience, if I wait any longer I will run up against birthdays and other holidays. So this year, I am preparing handmade Christmas cards early. I know I will be so relieved to not be stressed with last minute things.
The sketch for Monday’s Mojo Monday the past Monday, September 5th, is a contest. Once a month they host a contest where there is a drawing for the winners. There is one winner for every 50 entries, with a maximum of 7 winners. To get a jump-start on Christmas, I used this weeks sketch for a Christmas card. The sketch was created by Julee Tilman, founder of Mojo Monday and owner of Poetic Artistry.
Preparing Handmade Christmas Cards Early
I still have quite a bit of Christmas stash from 2015, so I created this card utilizing most of my stash. So, although the Christmas themed Designer Paper Paper, red glossy paper, and Envelope Liner Framelits are retired, everything else is still available.
For the base of this card, I used the thick Whisper White Cardstock. I love quality of the thick cardstock. It makes the cards nice and sturdy. I then layered the base with Designer Series Paper, Red Foil Paper, and Dazzling Diamonds Glitter Paper. The triangle was created using Mossy Meadow Cardstock and Whisper White Cardstock. I then used a ruler and a Pacific Point Stampin’ Write Marker to make the dashes.
The ornaments were cut out using the Delicate Ornament Thinlit Dies with Red Foil Paper and Dazzling Diamonds Glitter Paper. The sentiment was stamped in Real Red on Whisper White Card stock and then layered with Red Foil Paper.
I hope you enjoyed this card. Please feel free to email me or post a comment below if you have any questions. You can shop at my store anytime using the link below.
