My plan was this post go live last week. However, some times the best laid plans do not always workout as expected. Throughout the month of January I was having some big hosting issues. Unfortunately, I did find it necessary to switch hosts. However, my site should now run much more quickly and not have the down time.
Share The Love With Handmade Cards
I received my January Paper Pumpkin kit in mid-January, and thought it was the cutest darn thing. As much I like the banner this kit provides, I wanted to try something a little different for Valentine’s Day. The primary colors in this kit are from their 2015-17 In Color collection, showcasing Watermelon Wonder and Mint Macaron.
The January Paper Pumpkin Kit included a stamp set, Watermelon Wonder Stampin’ Spot, precut hearts, red sequin trim, clothes pins, and Mint Macaron twine.
For this first card, I used Mint Macaron cardstock for the card base, layered with a cut sheet of Cherry On Top Designer Series Paper. The paper from that particular paper stack not only matches the colors in this kit, but also has a couple designs with hearts on it.
Next, I added a Tea Lace Paper Doilie with one of the precut hearts from Paper Pumpkin layered on top. The heart in the center was cut out using the Mini Treat Bag Thinlits and Mint Macaron cardstock.
The sentiments were stamped using the set that came with the kit, and the Stampin’ Up Black Archival Ink Pad. The banner with the “Sweet” sentiment was part of the kit. The hearts, as well as the heart outline were also part of the stamp set. Those were stamped in Watermelon Wonder, and the outlined heart in Mint Macaron.

For this card, I used Watermelon Wonder cardstock as my base. I then used a cut piece of Whisper White cardstock and ran it through the embosser with the Happy Heart Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. Next, I added a heart that came in the Paper Pumpkin Kit.I stamped the sentiments “Be Mine” and “XOXO” from the kit in Black Archival Ink. Using a Stampin’ Dimensional, I added a heart I cut out in with the Mini Treat Bag Thinlits in Watermelon Wonder. On the heart is a 2015-17 Color Blossom Accent in Mint Macaron that I adhered with a glue dot.
For the final touches, I tied a strand of the red sequined trim that came with the kit and a couple of sequins to the XOXO banner. Both the banner and ribbon were included in the kit.
