'Tis the season to start shopping for those holiday gifts!  Do you believe how quickly the holidays are approaching?  Every year I make a promise to myself that I am going to start my shopping early.  It is always so stressful trying to do all of my shopping 1 – 2 weeks before Christmas.  Not only is it a busy time of the year, but also the Chicago weather is usually very unpleasant.  In addition to that, since my husband has such a crazy work schedule I then have to pay someone to watch the kids!  That is not affordable, on top of what is being spent in shopping.

This is a perfect time to start shopping also since there is Kmart's Big Layaway Giveaway!  Since it is the season of giving, Kmart is giving back to you too!  Now through November 19 Kmart will be drawing a name at each of their stores of those who have clothes on layaway.  If your name is drawn, they will take care of your remaining balance!  That is such an amazing opportunity.

If you are not familiar with how layaways work, here is a little information on Kmart's layaway plan.  All you do is you go to the store, shop for the items you want, take them to the layaway counter, may a small deposit which would normally include a service fee, however Kmart is offering a free layaway as well!  Once your layaway is set up, you then make your payments every two weeks as per your schedule and then pick up your items when your balance is paid in full.  Of course, if you name is drawn in the Layaway Giveaway there is no need to pay off your balance since that will be taken care of for you!

Kmart has such an awesome giveaway plan, I checked out some others and they can be unaffordable.  For instance Best Buy's layaway, involves putting items on layaway that total at least $250 – which is rather expensive right off the start.  Then you have to make an initial 25% down payment, plus a 5% nonrefundable layaway fee.  I think I would be missing out on the opportunity to get some holiday gifts with that plan.  Below is a chart that compares Kmart's layaway to several other stores:

Thanks to Kmart I can now move forward with a couple of things I have been wanting to get for the kids but cannot do afford it without being able to make payments.  Below are some items I am considering putting on layaway for the holidays:

Kmart Bean Bag Chairs

Kmart VTech

The girls have wanted beanbag chairs for their bedroom and the VTech Innotab 2 is something I have been looking into for Ethan.

I am super excited to take advantage of the Kmart Big Layaway Giveaway, and really thrilled at the chance to get all of this at the cost of just the down payment if I win!

How about you, have you started holiday shopping yet?
