Celebrate the Lessons of Life For Mothers Day

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of New York Life for SocialSpark. All opinions are 100% mine.

In celebration of Mother’s Day, New York Life would like to “Keep Good Going” by using life lessons to appreciate life even more. This Celebrating Good campaign encourages you to share the challenges – big or small – you or your family faced that taught you to remain positive and appreciate life even more.

The Happiest Daughter video below shows how this little girl and her family are making lemonade with the lemons life has thrown at them:

In life, we often learn so much about ourselves in the most unexpected places. My oldest daughter is only 10, but has suffered from General Anxiety and Panic Disorder for several years now. I have learned so much from her about character and strength watching her struggle with all of her demons.

I guess you can say I had seen signs of her being a worrier since she was at least 4 years old. However, at that point I truly thought her worries were more age related and she would grow out of them. Unfortunately, she always continued to worry way more than a young little girl should.

After a few years of counseling, we decided it was time to see a Psychiatrist. During the first session with her doctor, she asked the doctor if medication would help her not worry any more. When the doctor said yes, I wish you could see the relief and the huge smile on Megan’s face. It was a moment I will never for get. To know she was in that much pain and so relieved to finally get the help she really needed makes me cry.

There are times in life when things may happen to you or a loved one, but you do not understand why. I too suffer from anxiety and panic disorder. However, I always felt there was a reason “why”. I now believe it was so we could learn from one another to overcome our worries together and live a happy fulfilled life.

New York Life wants to keep the good going through a digital billboard, which captures and tallies in real-time all of the moments of family good around Mother’s Day! They want to bring even more good to Mother’s Day by allowing you to upload photos of you and your mom and share Tweets with something you’ve learned from her.

In celebration of Mother’s Day, i would like to celebrate how blessed I am to have my children. I continue to grow as a mom and a person because of so much these little people have taught me about courage and strength.
