Disney Live-Action Film – Cinderella

I cannot wait for this movie to come out. The cast of this movie includes Cate Blanchett as the evil stepmother, Lily James as Ella, a.k.a. Cinderella, Holliday Grainger as the Anastasia (stepsister), Sophie McShera as Drisella (stepsister), Richard Madden stars at the Prince, and Helena Bonham-Carter as the Fairy Godmother.

As in the original story of Cinderella, a merchant man and father remarries after the death of his wife. However, after his sudden passing the daughter is relegated to servant for her stepmother and two stepsisters. However, she is determined to honor her mother’s dying words and to “have courage and be kind.”

Cinderella then has a chance encounter with a dashing stranger in the woods. She is unaware this stranger is really the Prince, but feels they are kindred souls. Her luck may be changing when there is an invitation sent out by the palace for all of the maidens to attend a ball. Of course, the stepmother forbids Cinderella to attend the ball and rips her dress apart. As luck would have it, Cinderella meets a kind beggar woman who happens to have a pumpkin and some mice.

I am so excited to see this classic fairytale shared as a live-action film. I cannot wait to hear the “Bippity Boppity Boop” of the Fairy Godmother, or Cinderella leaving her glass slipper on the stairs as she runs from the palace at midnight. Although, my favorite part is probably when the prince discovers the glass slipper fits Cinderella’s foot perfectly right in front of her stepmother and stepsisters.

Of course, since this is a Disney original in the first place, I am quite sure the live-action version of this movie will be just as wonderful and beautiful as the original.
