gorton's wicked good seafood

I love eating seafood, and luckily my kids do too. I try feeding them some kind of seafood at least once a week, if not more. Seafood is healthy and it creates some nice variety to our menu, which tends to consist of a lot of chicken. It has been recommended now for sometime to eat seafood at least 2 times a week due to all of its health benefits. Seafood contains natural omega-3 fatty acids, lean protein, critical vitamins and minerals that helps aid brain development, promote heart health, help fight obesity and improve your overall health.

I am really excited to have an opportunity to work with Gorton’s Seafood. They are are trusted name in seafood since 1849. Can you believe that…1849?! That is only because consumers have trusted Gorton’s for their high-quality seafood products. In fact, in 2011 they started their Trusted Catch program, which further enhances the quality assurance.

All of their fish is 100% real fish with no fillers. It does not contain any MSG, artificial colors or flavors. It also is a source of natural Omega-3. They also now have Gorton’s Grilled fish that is Gluten Free! So now Gorton’s can be enjoyed by just about everyone.

For review purposes I was sent

  • 5 full-value product coupons
  • 1 incredibly adorable Fisherman USB with all the assets you need for your review
  • 1 Gorton’s-branded ship wheel keychain
  • An assortment of Gorton’s recipe cards and beautiful seaside/Gorton’s postcards

One of the recipe cards was to make Authentic Fish Tacos. We have eaten fish tacos in the past and the kids have really enjoyed them. I did end up changing the sauce for these tacos since the one on the recipe card called for chipotle salsa or chipotle chilies en adobo. I have had that sauce before and have really enjoyed it!

Authentic Fish Tacos with lime-cilantro sour cream sauce
Recipe Type: Seafood
Cuisine: Dinner
Author: Jodi
For this recipe I used the Gorton’s Breaded Tilapia Fillets. I used only 4 of the 8 fillets and it yielded about 9 tacos. Also, I used the red cabbage for my husband and I but the iceberg lettuce for the kids.
For the Sauce:
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 3 Tbs. minced fresh cilantro
  • Grated zest of 1 lime
  • 1 Tbs. fresh lime juice
For the Tacos:
  • 1 (17.2 oz) package of Gorton’s Breaded Tilapia Fillets, or 1 package (6.3 oz) Gorton’s Signature Grilled Tilapia
  • 10 flour Tortillas, warmed
  • 1 cup shredded red cabbage, or iceberg lettuce
  • 2 limes, quartered
For the tacos:
  1. Preheat the oven and cook according to package directions.
  2. When done cooking slice fish in 1/4 inch strips for tacos.
For the Sauce:
  1. Combine all the ingredients in a bowl and whisk until smooth.
  2. This sauce can be refrigerated for up to 4 hours prior to use.

This recipe was super easy and very delicious! I loved how authentic our fish tacos tasted by using Gorton’s Breaded Tilapia Fillets. It was such a time saver too!
