Truth be known, I am a technology geek through and through. I have always been the one my mom looked to for setting up our electronic equipment. Back then I was setting up the big old VHS player for her, or even fixing minor with the TV settings. Eventually I got one of the first computers, a big old clunky MAC with a nine inch screen! Yes, the idea on having hands on technology experience has always been a thrill for me!

This is exactly what my first clunky MAC looked like! lol

My interest in technology has only grown throughout the years. However, according to a new study by Intel and Toluna, most of the 79% of Americans who are excited to learn about and try new technology are not able to experience hands on technology experience beyond what they read or see in the media.

Hands On Technology Experience At Best Buy

This is the reason why Intel and Best Buy are now teaming up to bring new Intel Technology Experience zones to 50 Best Buy stores in major markets across the U.S. The Intel Technology Experience lets customers – from tech enthusiasts to technophobes – play, explore, and be inspired by the power of technology with hands-on activities like 3D printing and virtual reality games. For many, this is the first opportunity to see, touch, and play with exciting new technologies they’ve only heard about.

One of those 50 Best Buy stores close to my home is in Downers Grove, Illinois on Butterfield Road. I had a chance to visit the store and have an opportunity to my own hands on technology experience with all their fun tech gadgets. I honestly could have spent hours there, and actually may have done just that!

The Intel Technology Experience averages 240 square feet of space in the Best Buy stores. It shows customers the power of Intel: the technology behind these new, innovative activities is the same power behind the devices like tablets and laptops. For instance, it was really interesting to have a hands on experience in building a 3D robot!

I also got to show off my racing skills on Mars in an augmented reality world, such as this one below. Although my racing skills are not so superb since I crashed and burned…several times! lol

Master beats and remix tracks by Ne-Yo as a digital DJ. This is a very cool set-up. Allowing you to try your hand at being a DJ. You not only get do some song remixing, but you can control the light show as well. Be warned, you may find yourself doing a bit of dancing at this display!

Lastly, you get to touch feel and try out the  latest PC and tablet devices powered by Intel processors.

The area is staffed by specially trained Best Buy Blue Shirts to answer questions and help customers make the most of each area within the experience. However, they are not there all the time. If you would like to go while they are present, call your local store to find out the Intel staff hours. Each season, Intel will refresh the venues with a new array of technology experiences.

Enjoy your Intel Experience! I cannot wait to hear your thoughts.
