Happy Memorial Day!

I hope everyone had a great weekend!  I’ve been rather amiss the past few days.  For the most part we had a great weekend, although I had the stomach flu yesterday, blah!  My husband was working (of course) so I had no choice but to forge ahead and count the minutes until bedtime with the twins.  Today was beautiful, hubby was home and we spent the day at the pool with family and friends.

Megan had gone away for the weekend to the Wisconsin Dells.  She left on Friday and returned today.  I missed her A LOT!!  I don’t know how I’m ever going to let her go off to college some day!  Anna, and especially Ethan really missed Megan.  After we had walked Megan across the street to her friends who she was going to the Dells with, Ethan came home and sobbed!  It was so sweet, and sad all at the same time.

We had some friends over a couple weeks ago, who have a son starting high school next year and a daughter who will be in 8th grade next year.  She had a really good analogy about kids starting high school and really how once they start high school we only have those four years left with them.  After that they are off to college, or if not, they are adults then and things do change.  I started thinking about how fast it does go by and what a short period of time we have to really instill all the tools they need to be great adults.

When you think about all that being a parent really entails, it is a little overwhelming.  I am trying to keep that in the back of mind and remember that although times may get tough with them going through different stages of development – it is so important to parent them as the future adults we want them to be.

I’d love to hear how you spent your weekend!  Anyone go anywhere fun or do something fun?
