Homemade Low Fat Banana Bread Recipe

A while ago my brother-in-law told me about freezing bananas that are going bad to turn in to banana bread. If you fast forward several months later…we have quite a build-up of frozen bananas. Our oldest, Megan, has inquired several times about all the frozen bananas. My response is they are for Homemade Low Fat Banana Bread, but just have not had a chance to make it.

When Megan was an infant, we had a home delivery service for our milk called Oberweis. It is located in Illinois so, I believe, it only delivers in the Chicagoland area. All their milk is hormone free and, really like no other milk. They also have other types of foods and desserts you could add on to your weekly milk order. I used to always get their Banana Bread since Megan was completely hooked on it! I liked that it was not banana – nut bread since Megan did not like nuts and I prefer the nut-free version anyway.

Eventually due to budget cuts we cancelled our Oberweis delivery. We have really missed their banana bread though. We have tried others, but they are just not the same. We have found the others lacking in taste or moisture.

Homemade Low Fat Banana Bread

Well, I have finally made the time to make banana bread! Since I am trying to watch my weight, I wanted a homemade low fat Banana Bread that was not lacking in moisture or taste. I believe I achieved what I set out to do! The bread turned out really delicious and moist and was plowed through very quickly.

  1. Going to try this! I have quite a few bananas in my freezer, too – but have found that even in the freezer they get brown and mushy pretty quickly. I need to get baking. 🙂
