House Cleaning Schedule for Household Organization

Do you have a house cleaning schedule you use for making sure you are on top of all your chores? This may sound a little ridiculous, but I had never learned much about organization growing up. My childhood was a little different, growing up in my grandparents home with my mom and sister. My sister only lived there for a short time before she graduated high school and moved out-of-state.

My mom worked several jobs and did not do much around the house as far as homemaking is concerned. I was never given any “chores”, although I would offer to help my grandmother now and then. I look back now and can see how crazy that was to not have any chores on a regular basis. I can also see how having chores as a child teaches you things as an adult.

House Cleaning Schedule

I have always wondered how on earth people keep up with everything. Between family, work, and life…how do people keep their houses clean? About a month ago I was texting with my neighbor whose children play with mine all the time and in our discussion she had mentioned her daughter being bored watching her do all her chores. It was at that point that a big light bulb came on in me head – House Cleaning Schedule!

In my furry to get this whole house cleaning stuff down I created my own House Cleaning Chore Chart. I admit, to me it looks a little overwhelming at times, but at least it is a good guide.  There are many times that I do not get everything done on a given day. Those chores that I did not get to are moved to the next day. I have, in fact, gotten several days behind and still I am grateful for this chart as a guide.

I feel that things are getting taken care of my more consistently that they were before. Also, when we are having company I am not running around feverishly trying to clean the house. I told my husband just recently how good it felt to know the house was in good shape for company without being embarrassed!

If anyone would like a copy of this chore chart for their own use, I am offering a printable version of it! I hope it can help and guide you as much as it has for me.

  1. Thanks for sharing these great tips and the house cleaning schedule, it really makes my life easier! Many people have no idea how often to clean various parts of their houses, and something like that printed and pinned to the fridge can really make their lives easier. My biggest issue is that I often forget to clean inside the oven, I usually do a good job wiping it quickly after each use, but I often postpone the big cleaning way too much. You can add it to your list if you want, it would be a nice reminder.
