Promoting Kindness in Children With Netflix #StreamTeam

School is already in session for us. I feel like we have done a moderate amount of prepping for our children. We have had Megan, who’s now in 6th grade, practice her math facts throughout the summer since math is especially difficult for her. For Anna and Ethan, starting first grade, they have been reading throughout the summer. However, there is another important lesson to be learned that is not taught within the classroom – that is how to show kindness towards others.

Bullying has become a very real thing in our schools throughout this country. In order to get a handle on this, we as parents, have to reinforce to our children how to be kind to one another. The Netflix original series Derek does an excellent job at reinforcing acceptance and kindness to each other.

Derek stars Ricky Gervais, a great talent who recently started in Muppets Most Wanted. His mantra throughout the show is acceptance, no matter age or ability. This mockumentary style comedy-drama makes tough discussion more approachable.
