Taking A New Direction With My Blog

Consistency and motivation have always been tough for me. However, the past couple of years have been the worst. For the longest time, I felt I was on the right path, especially regarding my blog and how it was helping me provide a steady income to help support my family. Then things started shifting. I began doubting the path of my blog. Taking a new direction had become imminent.

I felt the content I was creating was not interesting, and lacked any real value. This left me unmotivated and overwhelmed. Since then, I’ve been really struggling with consistency and motivation.

I guess you could say I’ve been in a humongous “funk” the past couple of years. I know there are other medical contributing factors for my disengagement to by blog, as well as other areas of my life. However, finding the right path for my blog has been a major issue for me. Financially, we cannot afford for me to be home unless I am able to help out with earning an income.

With having this blog since 2010, it was and still is important that I start creating a focus by narrowing down my categories. The problem I struggled with is that most popular categories for blogs are one’s I have no expertise in, or are of little interest to me. For instance, blogs with a high concentration of recipes for meals or desserts are very popular. That is great for those who are great at creating wonderful recipes, but that’s not me. This held true with me for many of the more popular categories that also give the blogger the luxury of having some fantastic images for their posts.

This all basically left me good and stuck. I struggled with content because I could not add any real value to the post. I became overwhelmed and unmotivated, and started avoiding my blog. I was so tired of looking at the blank box where a blog post should go.

Taking A New Direction

Taking a new direction

As I began writing this post, I remained unclear as to the direction I intended to take with my blog. However, as I wrote and prayed, my focus hit me like a big old epiphany. The strange thing is, these are topics I’ve been contemplating for the past two years, but I’ve always fought it. Now I know these are the best one’s for me.

My areas of focus will be:

  • Faith
  • Stampin’ Up! (creating cards, gift boxes, gift bags, etc.)
  • Knitting (sharing projects I’m working on)
  • Non-toxic home & body (products I use or come across that are non-toxic)
  • Mental Health (Anxiety and ADHD in women and girls)
  • Parenting Quandaries (Teen, elementary age, and twins)

Also, in the coming months, I will be rebranding and moving this site to a new website called Perfectly Imperfct – http://perfectlyimperfct.com. Yes, the “e” is missing intentionally, it kind of goes with theme! 🙂

So, I pray that this is the end of my inconsistency and lack of motivation. I look forward to posting on a regular basis, and hearing your thoughts and ideas!
